YWCA Wise Options provides confidential services to women, men, and children residing in Lycoming County who have experienced, witnessed or had a family member involved in domestic violence, sexual assault, or other violent crimes. As a comprehensive victim center, we provide: 24 hour crisis hotline for intervention and support, emergency shelter, individual and group counseling, civil and criminal court accompaniment, hospital accompaniment, advocacy with the courts and other outside agencies, and screening for Protection From Abuse Orders. One staff person is On-Call 24/7 each day for calls for accompaniment at the county hospitals. We also provide community and prevention programs to schools, local agencies and professionals. Our clients are predominately female. 75% of our work is with domestic violence victims and their children, working to help them regain control of their lives and help stop the generational cycle of family violence. Our ultimate goal in this field is social change, working towards making domestic violence and sexual assault unacceptable crimes in our community. We continue our system advocacy work with law enforcement and the judicial system. This past year we brought Lt. Mark Wynn, a nationally renowned speaker, back to Lycoming County for an all day training, to further train law enforcement on the impact of domestic violence on victims and their families. Additionally, we are working on a county wide ‘Domestic Violence Best Practices Guidelines’ for law enforcement response to domestic violence incidents. For more information:
