River Valley Regional YMCA
Senior Program

The YMCA Senior Program is a program that allows seniors an opportunity to stay active, healthy, and mentally fit by participating in activities and programs at the Williamsport YMCA.

The population being served by the YMCA Senior Program is men and women, ages 60+ who reside in the Williamsport and surrounding areas. Approximately 15% of the seniors that are members of the YMCA are on Y-scholarships. Last year, the amount granted for this purpose was well over $5,000 however this year with the new push in advertising our scholarship program, we have already granted scholarships in the amount of $2,480 to seniors that could not have otherwise utilized the YMCA’s services and programs (January through February 2007).  Currently, the YMCA serves approximately 300 seniors, which is about 30% of the adult memberships that use the YMCA.

The purpose of the YMCA Senior Program is to provide an avenue wherein a large number of seniors can become involved and participate at the YMCA through programs that are specific to the needs of seniors as well as general health-related activities.  All of the programs that are used by our senior population not only provide seniors with a means to get daily exercise but also provide an avenue for mental stimulus and social outlet.  Our program enables seniors of all abilities and levels to remain active, healthy and productive members of our community. The YMCA is the medium that helps seniors remain strong in Spirit, Mind and Body.
