Big
Brothers/Big Sisters of Lycoming County Big Brothers Big Sisters is recognized as the premier one-to-one mentoring organization with a tradition reaching back over 100 years in the United States and 13 years in Lycoming County. Preventative in nature, our programs unite the agency case managers, volunteer mentors, and parents/guardians who work together to deter the occurrence of problematic behaviors in youth before they are able to take root. Through role modeling, guidance and friendship, our volunteers fill a void for children who are critically in need of stable and supportive bonds with caring adults. Research shows that Little Brothers and Little Sisters (children in the program) do better in school, avoid drugs and alcohol, and feel better about themselves. An independent research study conducted by Public/Private Ventures, a national research organization with more than 25 years in studying child development, concluded that children enrolled as Little Brothers or Little Sisters were:

less likely to begin using illegal drugs; The impact of these heartfelt relationships not only changes kids’ lives, but they have positive ripple effects that directly contributes to stronger schools, brighter futures, and better communities. For more information http://www.bbbslyco.org/
