American Red Cross
Health and Safety Program

The Health and Safety program provides the following training to the community:  Lay-responder First Aid CPR/AED training, CPR/AED for the professional Rescuer, Lifeguard training, Learn to Swim training, Babysitters training, Blood borne Pathogens:  Preventing Disease Transmission training, Personnel Hygiene training and Care Giver training to youth and adults of all ages in Lycoming County.

The purpose of our youth based programs is to promote a sense of community, a sense or responsibility, promote positive self-esteem, and help save lives.  The purpose of our adult based programs is geared to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies and to improve the quality of life for ourselves and our loved ones.  Our First Aid, CPR, AED training, CPR/AED, and Blood borne Pathogens training programs teach people the skills necessary to help save lives in an emergency, as well as  prepare for the emergency.  More and more families are opting to care for loved ones in the family setting of their own homes today.  The Family Care giving program that we are beginning promises to educate families to take care of loved ones who are sick, aging, dealing with a life threatening illness, or temporarily immobile.

This program partners with various agencies.  There are no changes, but we are growing all of these teaching segments to reach more of the geographic population.
